Ukraine Crisis Welcome Kits Relief Effort

In response to the growing refugee crisis in Europe and North America, we are coordinating activities around preparing “Welcome Kits" for people fleeing the war in Ukraine and going to various cities around the world. We're trying this out as a pilot in the NGD Community in Montreal, Canada.

Based on performance we will decide how to proceed further. If we need to synergize with various proactive groups including charitable trusts and NGOs providing humanitarian aid in other affected cities, then we will do exactly that.

For these kits, we would like to reach out to the wider community for help in collecting the following items (new or gently used) for these kits:

- pillows (1+1)
- blankets (1+1)
- sheets {(full, queen, king) x 1 }
- pans and pots (1+1)
- kitchen knives (1)
- kettle or tea pot (1)
- glasses and cups (2+2)
- cutlery (2+2)
- other small kitchen items (kitchen towel, food container, spatula, etc)
- toothpaste, shower gels and other hygienic products (1 of each)

Every kit should contain items that will allow the incoming family (typically, a mother with children) to settle and have the basics covered for a couple of weeks, a reference image is attached of the items. Jaggery will be providing two shoulder bags – a satchel and a tote. The tote will be packed with the above items and the satchel can be used to carry their travel documents and personal items.

Please note: This collection drive does not include food items, toys or clothing! Those will be arranged locally when required. We have very limited storage/processing capacity.

Quick suggestion on collection: You could collect among your friends and bring a consolidated mid size moving box and/or bring individual items to the address mentioned below:

If you choose to donate gently used items, please make sure they are cleaned/washed/ironed if needed.
